Nipple Reduction

Nipple reduction performed to medical standards at Ethics Aesthetic Clinic. Performed directly by specialist doctors.

Nipple Reduction

Many women, after pregnancy and breastfeeding, find that the nipple area becomes larger and longer, which can affect their appearance in front of their partner. In some cases, enlarged nipples may also be hereditary. Join TMV Ethics as we explore the nipple reduction procedure in this article to better understand how it works.

WHAT IS NIPPLE REDUCTION SURGERY?

Nipple reduction surgery is a cosmetic surgical procedure that reshapes the nipple by removing excess skin around the nipple, so that the nipple becomes neater and better proportioned with the breast.

Nipple reduction surgery involves reducing the height of a long nipple or reshaping the nipple by cutting away excess tissue, to improve its size and its proportion to the breast.

WHO SHOULD HAVE THIS PROCEDURE?

Nipple reduction is not suitable for everyone and should only be considered in the following cases:

- Enlarged nipples

- Hypertrophic nipples

- Women who wish to improve "puffy nipples" to suit their body.

WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE NIPPLE REDUCTION?

The following cases should be carefully considered, or require a doctor's assessment, before nipple reduction is performed:

- A history of high blood pressure or cardiovascular problems

- Infection in the breast area

- A tendency toward difficult blood clotting

IMPORTANT NOTES AFTER NIPPLE REDUCTION SURGERY

Although this is one of the procedures with the lowest rate of complications among cosmetic surgeries, patients should still be aware of possible issues so they can recognise and prevent them and achieve the best possible result.

- Depending on each person's body, the surgical area may swell for 3 to 5 days.

- The surgical area may become infected if it is not kept clean in line with the doctor's post-operative instructions.

- Patients can go home to rest after surgery, without needing to stay overnight as with breast augmentation.

- If mild pain is felt, patients may take pain relief medication to ease the discomfort.

- Return to have stitches removed after 7 days and to have the doctor check your progress.

- Soon after, patients can carry on with everyday activities as normal.

- Avoid foods that promote swelling and inflammation for 1 month after surgery.

- Clean the surgical area with saline solution and Betadine antiseptic to reduce the risk of infection.

- In the early period after surgery, avoid knocks and contact with the chest area.

RESULTS AFTER NIPPLE REDUCTION

After nipple reduction surgery, patients may achieve a smaller, attractive nipple that is in proportion with the breast, in line with their goals. Nipple reduction surgery is performed externally and does not affect women who are breastfeeding.

Results after nipple reduction

Nipple reduction surgery is a relatively straightforward procedure that does not invade the deeper tissues. However, if patients do not choose a reputable clinic or a doctor with good surgical skill, there is a greater chance of poor suturing or unwanted complications. Results vary from person to person, and your doctor will assess your suitability for the procedure.
